Built using hide glue construction and historically accurate specifications confirmed via Smithsonian CT scans, this guitar is as close as it gets to owning a true 1939 original. Featuring an Adirondack spruce top treated with Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS), the D-18 Authentic delivers that aged, open sound you'd expect from a treasured vintage instrument. Genuine mahogany back and sides ensure warm, woody tone with punchy mids and clear articulation.

This model’s rearward-shifted scalloped X-bracing and Authentic 1939 neck profile contribute to its remarkable resonance and playing comfort. This 2010-built guitar is in wonderful condition, with barely any playwear whatsoever and only one small impression in the lacquer by the bridge - it's close to perfect! The actionis a perfect buzz-free medium, and it plays beautifully. The tone is quintisenntial D-18 - woody, warm and round, and it's the classic sound heard on thousands of classic records. The 1939 D-18 features rear-shifted bracing which gives a deepr, fatter tone than earlier D-18's, and a smoother, silkier top end. Now sadly discontinued, the 1939 Authentic is one of the all-time great Martin dreadnoughts, and this is another wonderful example. Includes original hardshell case.
